SPS Wins Fifth Consecutive Outstanding Chapter Award

The Physics Department is excited to announce that our Society of Physics Students (SPS) Chapter has been awarded the 2015 Outstanding Chapter Award for the fifth consecutive year. Criteria used to determine which SPS chapters receive this award range from involvement in local, zone, and national SPS events, outreach efforts, community service, contributions to student recruitment, social events, and relations with alumni.

A few of the events sponsored during the 2014-2015 academic year included a trip to the McGuire Nuclear Power Plant, a kickball tournament, attendance at the North Carolina Section of the American Association of Physics Teachers (NCS-AAPT) Conference at Wake Forest University, stargazing, an ice cream social, and several Women in Physics events.
