Seniors and Faculty Don Regalia for Convocation Ceremony

Witnessed and encouraged by families, professors, staff and supporters, dozens of Davidson College students and associates received awards of achievement at Spring Convocation on April 26, 2016. This annual gathering brings together seniors and faculty members in academic regalia in a preview of Commencement, which will occur on Sunday, May 15.

The ceremony in Duke Family Performance Hall featured presentation of awards for leadership, service, athletic and academic excellence. New members of honor societies and students receiving graduate school fellowships and scholarships were also recognized.

President Carol Quillen offered brief remarks focused on her sense of "gratitude for the privilege of being in this place with these incredible people every day."

She thanked members of the graduating class for making Davidson a place of the highest standard of integrity and academic accomplishments, as well as a place where relationships matter, and where bonds are made and last a lifetime.

Speaking to soon-to-be graduates, she concluded, "I hope you feel this gift of Davidson profoundly, and recognize its call to leadership and service as an incredible gift and opportunity, and never a burden. On behalf of the institution, I want to say thank you for what you've already done for Davidson."
