Charlotte Talks: Prof. Susan Roberts on Third-Party Candidates in 2016

In this year's already unpredictable presidential election, third-party candidates are gaining traction among an electorate that is disillusioned with the two major parties and their nominees.

Political Science Prof. Susan Roberts discussed the rise of third parties in the United States political system on 90.7FM WFAE's "Charlotte Talks" with host Mike Collins and panelists Scott H. Huffmon, professor of political science at Winthrop University, and Eric S. Heberling, professor of political science at UNC Charlotte. The panel examined of the appeal and potential of third-party candidates in this election cycle, and addressed the evolution of the United States political party system, as well as the political context in which third parties tend to gain support.
