Law School Fair Draws Hundreds of Students, Professionals

The Center for Career Development, in partnership with the Davidson College student Pre-Law Society, hosted the Greater Charlotte Law School Fair last week with nearly 70 of the nation's top law schools and hundreds of students participating.

"We had an incredible turnout, and we were delighted to host partner schools from the greater Charlotte area, who joined us to meet with law school representatives. The culture of connectivity that we promote at the Center for Career Development was in full evidence as students networked with law school representatives and deans of admission, who were impressed by the caliber and diversity of candidates with whom they met," said Jeanne-Marie Ryan (@jeannemarieryan), executive director of the Center for Career Development. "Our team recently held a heavily-attended Networking Decoded immersive workshop, in partnership with the Pre-Law Society, and it was wonderful to see our students leveraging these networking skills so effectively as they engaged with law school representatives from key institutions."

On Thursday, students from our partner schools and early-career professionals from across the Charlotte area joined current Davidson students to connect with representatives and learn more about their law programs. Pre-Law Society student members were out in full force throughout the event.

"It was a great privilege to watch members, friends and students from area colleges networking with admissions representatives and learning more about potential graduate school options," said Pre-Law Society President Emily Yates '18. "Seeing attendance almost triple from last year is a true testament to the growing interest in legal education at Davidson College."

The Pre-Law Society has already started planning spring workshops and programs to build on the success of the fair.

"I'm looking forward to continuing to work with this talented and dedicated group of students as they explore their interest in law," said Sarah Williams '11, Assistant Director for Career Development and the Pre-Law Adviser at Davidson College.
