President Quillen Joins Higher Ed Panel at Aspen Ideas Festival

Davidson College President Carol Quillen was part of a panel discussion at the 2017 Aspen Ideas Festival, an annual gathering where leaders and thinkers engage in deep discussions about challenges facing society.

Quillen sat in on the "Making It in America" panel, which focused on the role of education in developing the workforce of the future and encouraging social mobility. Or as Quillen put it, "How do we create a postsecondary landscape that will actually deliver what the country needs? Not only for a prosperous economy but also so we can perpetuate this democratic society and build an engaged citizenry."

Listen to an audio recording of the hour-long discussion. (Quillen is introduced just after the five-minute mark.)

This was Quillen's second appearance at the Ideas Festival. She participated in a 2014 panel that discussed the question, "Will the humanities be extinct by 2024?"
