Today, Celebrate Kindness With the Campus Community

Graphic of people doing nice things in heart cutouts

“Kindness is Popping Up Everywhere” will be the theme for our second annual Random Acts of Kindness Day, Friday, Feb. 17, 2023. No one does “kind” better than the Davidson community. We care for, and about, each other and our students—a distinctive quality that our alums recall and prospective students sense when they visit.

We hope you will stop by one or more of these events and encourage your colleagues and classmates to do the same. While you’re there, we hope you will fill out a card about someone or something that’s made a difference for you. Those cards will be added to the Kindness Notes Display in Brown Atrium.

Here’s what you can look forward to:

  • Donuts and hot beverages in Lilly Family Gallery from 9 to 10 a.m.
  • Art Cart and coloring pages, Brown Atrium
  • Kindness Notes Display, Brown Atrium
  • Sidebar Beverage Pop-up, near the flagpole from noon to 2 p.m.
  • It’s Poppin Kettle Corn, Brown Atrium at 2 p.m.

Look for other surprises and delights around campus, and remember–not all acts of kindness cost money or require a huge amount of effort. There are many quick and easy ways to make someone’s day.

Look out for social media posts and check back to this page, where we’ll post highlights from the day. Use #CatsAreKind to add to the conversation on social media.

Students enjoyed the sweet pick-me-ups of coffee and doughnuts at the Lilly Gallery after morning classes. Many stopped to fill out a gratitude card.

"I’m grateful for seeing familiar smiling faces all over campus,” Emma Johnson ‘22, a lacrosse player from Jacksonville Florida, said. “I’ll be walking to class and constantly running into people I’m so happy to see."
