Fundraising and Engagement Totals Raise the Bar at Davidson College During Fiscal Year 2025

July 21, 2025

Davidson College celebrated another strong fiscal year, fueled by the generosity and dedication of its vibrant community. It was a year defined by connection, momentum and lasting impact.

This fiscal year, which ran July 1, 2024-June 30, 2025, celebrated new gifts and commitments totaling more than $96.4 million. Contributions supported a wide range of programs, including scholarships, athletics, the arts, research, internships, academic departments and much more. The college also concluded fundraising for The George Lawrence Abernethy Library — the largest philanthropic effort for a capital project in Davidson’s history.

The Fund for Davidson, the college’s annual giving program, celebrated a record year, surpassing $21 million. Nearly 40% of alums made gifts to the college, once again securing Davidson’s spot among the national leaders in alumni participation. Additionally, the college recorded a five-year high in senior class gift participation, reaching 68%, the highest total since the pandemic.

“Fundraising totals only tell part of the story,” said Morgan Bell Kee ’12, director of The Fund for Davidson. “We rely on the genuine passion and commitment of volunteers to connect with their classmates and share good news from campus. On behalf of the entire staff involved in this work, thank you to our partners and to every person who chose to make a gift to Davidson this year. We say it often, but we can’t say it enough: Every gift makes a difference.”

Turning to overall involvement from alums and families during the fiscal year, Davidson continues to be energized by a vibrant community that shows up, gives back and values connections to each other and to the college. This year, more than 140 alumni events were held across the country and online — a 45% increase over the previous year. From regional chapter gatherings and affinity reunions to record-breaking attendance during Reunion Weekend, our community enthusiastically answered the call to connect, support and celebrate. The college surpassed its goal of 72% engagement among contactable alums, with thousands participating as volunteers, mentors, donors and event attendees.

“Our alumni and families continue to raise the bar,” said Deidra Smith, senior director of alumni and family engagement. “We’re building something lasting — something deeply rooted in connection, purpose and belonging. The selflessness and enthusiasm of this community are truly extraordinary. At Davidson, engagement is not just a metric — it’s the fabric of our community.”

Moving into the new fiscal year, the college looks to build upon past success and continue strengthening connections with alums, families, friends and partners.

“Davidson is special, and it’s the people who make it that way,” said President Doug Hicks ’90. “This fiscal year highlights strength, celebration and a profound commitment to the community of trust found here. We are dedicated to our educational work that prepares our graduates and contributes to the public good. I am excited for all we have to look forward to and all we will accomplish together. We appreciate every gift, every volunteer hour and every cheer from the stands. Your involvement and investments make the work of Davidson College possible. You are the reason our graduates are ready to lead and serve in today’s world. Thank you, Davidson!”
