My Davidson | A Student Blog 5 Tips for Taking a Virtual Tour of Campus

One of the best ways to get to know our community and truly grasp what makes “the Davidson Difference" is through a campus visit, but we know sometimes that’s not possible. 

I first applied to college in 2020-2021, when residual Covid restrictions limited in-person campus visit options. Later, I considered Davidson as a transfer student from an international university–so visiting in person felt like a tall order. But I still wanted to get a feel for what the campus would be like before making another big commitment.

That's why I’m so excited about Davidson’s new virtual tour, which brings campus right to your screen–whether you’re across the pond or just across the state. Hear about facilities and amenities from current students, faculty and staff while learning about what makes Davidson College distinctive. 

Before you set out on the virtual tour, check out these five tips to ensure you maximize your experience:

1.) Personalize Your Tour

Utilize features like the destinations panel to explore specific spots and topics around campus. You can also use the "personalize" button, part of the suite of calls to action in the top righthand corner, to request specific areas of campus life you'd like to learn about, such as athletics, dining or academics. This helps you create a tour experience that is tailored to your interest.

2.) Take a Self-Guided Walking Tour

Already on campus and looking to show yourself around, or to find a specific building? Utilize the interactive map to locate yourself on campus and explore as you stroll the brick pathways. 

The summer before my first year at Davidson, my dad and I did this together before grabbing lunch at the Pickled Peach on Main Street. I now work there and everyday feels so full circle! 

3.) Go Straight to the Source: Learn from Our People

This isn't just a collection of panoramic photos. Our virtual tour was designed to be immersive, so be sure to click on motion graphics that include fast facts, photos and videos.
