Background

As the Assistant Director for Training Programs for the Deliberative Citizenship Initiative (DCI) and Deliberative Citizenship Network (DCN) I lead the design, coordination, and delivery of training experiences to equip faculty, staff, students, and community members with the skills needed to facilitate constructive dialogue and deliberation. These opportunities include our Deliberative Pedagogy (DeeP) Collaborative Orientation Workshop, Deliberation Facilitator Training Program, Deliberation Host Training Program, and more.

With more than a decade of experience leading initiatives at the intersection of public policy, education, and pluralism, I come to the Martin Institute having worked extensively on religious freedom, civic education, and interfaith engagement at the local, state, and national levels. I most recently served as Strategic Advisor at the U.S. Department of Education’s Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, advising senior leadership on religious freedom, church-state issues, antisemitism, Islamophobia, and civil discourse. Previously, I held leadership roles at the Freedom Forum, where I developed national training programs, educational resources, and public outreach initiatives on First Amendment principles, religious literacy, and engagement across differences that were designed to support faculty and students in both K-12 and higher education institutions. I hold a BA and Masters of Religion from the University of Georgia, Athens.
