Background

As the laboratory manager for the Physics Department, I organize, manage, and maintain lab equipment for all the physics courses. I also maintain and manage the demonstration equipment that the professors use during their lectures. Not only do I order new supplies, but I also repair and construct new demonstrations and lab equipment, and help develop new lab experiments.

I received my B.S. in Physics from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where I also assisted with a research project on metamaterials. I am an active member of the Physics Instructional Resource Association, a group of physics teachers and lab managers who network to develop, design, and collaborate on physics demonstrations and labs. My passion is to discover new ways of making science concepts understandable and engaging by using demonstrations, lab experiments, and inquiry.

Prior to Davidson, I was a lab presenter at Discovery Place, Inc., where I worked on the floor and behind the scenes. I taught and helped develop workshops, developed interactive activities based on concepts in physics and chemistry, interacted with guests about the wonders of science, and maintained two of their 3D printers. I also traveled to the Bay Area Maker Faire in 2015.
