Visitor and Alumni Access Policy
The library gladly welcomes visitors from our community and Davidson College alumni. Please review the following guidelines before visiting the library.
- Visitors may use the DavidsonGuest network to connect to WiFi.
- Visitors may browse the library catalog at our designated catalog computer station.
- Archives and Special Collections are available via appointment only by emailing archives@davidson.edu.
- As avid users of the public library, our library staff recommends visiting the Davidson branch of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library system, located on Main Street, for research support, printing/copying, technology help, meeting rooms, and online resources.
Access to Electronic Resources
Many of our licensing agreements require a Davidson College login to access our electronic resources and databases.
- Sponsored Researchers: If you are visiting the college and are affiliated with or sponsored by a Davidson faculty member or department, you may be eligible for temporary college credentials. Your Davidson sponsor must request this access directly through T&I, ti@davidson.edu. They should include the researcher's name and systems they need access to, including SSO for library access purposes.
- General Public, Alumni, & Guests: You are always welcome to use the library building, consult our physical collections, or make archival appointments. However, due to licensing limitations, the majority of our online resources are only available for use by Davidson College faculty, staff, students, and sponsored researchers.
- Any guest who is a resident of North Carolina can also access NC Live's online databases and resources through the NC Live website.
- Additionally, many databases and repositories offer open access content.
