In addition, be aware that your borrowing privileges are for your own personal use only; do not lend your CatCard or share your login information with anyone else.

If you have any questions about borrowing materials from the library, please stop by or call the Information Desk  at 704-894-2331.

Holds

If a book, video, or government document that you need is checked out, you may place a hold on the item through Davidson Library WorldCat. This will block renewal by the person who currently has the book.

Note: You cannot place a hold on items that have a status of "Available."

To place a hold on an item:

  1. Click the blue "Place Hold" button within the "Find a Copy in the Library" section of the record for the item.
  2. Enter your ID (800 or 801) number and Your Library Account password when prompted to log in.
Note: Your Library Account login differs from your network login. If you have not accessed Your Library Account before, click on "forgot password" to create a password for your account. You will be sent an email from Library Password Management [mailto:DoNotReply@oclc.org] with a link to create or change your password.
  3. Click "Submit."

You will be notified by email when the item is returned to the library and ready for pick up.

Renewals

Renewals of books, reserve materials, videos, and government documents are unlimited, provided no one has placed a "hold" on the item.

Materials may be renewed from your library account in Davidson Library WorldCat. (For help using Your Library Account, please see our guide.) You may also bring materials to the library Information Desk for renewal.

Note that items borrowed through interlibrary loan may not be renewable. Please refer to the wrap-around on interlibrary loan books for this information. You can request renewals through ILLiad.

The following items are in-library-use-only and cannot be checked out:

  • Reference books and atlases
  • Periodicals, including bound and loose issues of journals, magazines, and newspapers
  • Materials in the College Archives and Rare Book Room
  • Davidsoniana Room materials

Fines

Overdue Fines

Library staff ordinarily send overdue notices as a courtesy; however, failure on the borrower's part to receive such a notice is not grounds for nonpayment of a fine. Any outstanding fines at the end of the semester will be forwarded to the Controller's Office for collection, and an additional $5 service charge will be added to the fine.
