Thomas Lane ’25
Hometown: Lexington, MA
Major: Biology and Sociology
Advising Track: Premedicine
“As someone who came to Davidson with a strong passion for biology and a desire to pursue medicine, C2i has provided an invaluable perspective that balanced my otherwise STEM-heavy workload. I have always been interested in higher education, but C2i opened my eyes to the world of education research and the possibility of empirically investigating my ideas. I’ve gained skills in developing research questions, managing a team, and synthesizing and presenting my results—skills that will continue to shape my academic and professional journey.”
Nina Worley ’25
Hometown: New York, NY
Major: Educational Studies
“C2i has given me the space to lead projects I'm passionate about and the great opportunity to present that research at conferences. These experiences have been pivotal in shaping my academic and professional development.”
Petrah Sakwa ’25
Hometown: Kakamega, Kenya
Major: Economics and French and Francophone Studies
“C2i has kept me informed on U.S. policy, honed my skills in research and data analysis, and introduced me to cool people at Davidson I would not have met otherwise.”
Alexa Frain ’25
Hometown: Vernon, NJ
Major: Biology
Minor: Russian Studies
“As a Biology major and Russian Studies minor, I do not fit the typical stereotype of a C2i employee who is well-versed in education, policy, or data science. However, C2i utilizes the strengths of all students, regardless of their areas of study, and values the diversity of its data collectors. C2i's appreciation for its versatile staff has allowed me to move from a data collector to a fellow, which has provided me invaluable leadership experience and knowledge.”
Christian Rutherford ’25
Hometown: Coventry, RI
Major: Computer Science
Minor: Russian Studies
“C2i has offered myriad opportunities to develop my data collection, processing, and curation capabilities, while also being a positive presence in the higher education space, conducting and releasing research and valuable insights into several issues, known or unknown, facing higher education institutions. I am very proud and grateful to have spent the past three years with C2i.”
Dmytro Kurdydyk ’25
Hometown: Kyiv, Ukraine
Major: Computer Science
“C2i gave me a deep understanding of how large-scale manual data-collection pipelines, research workflows, and visual analysis operate outside of my pure computer science direction. Working across multiple projects helped me see how policy, community outcomes, and institutional decisions can be studied through structured data. This experience directly shaped my current work: I am now developing an automated, domain-agnostic data-collection system designed to accelerate and improve C2i’s research process. It pushed me toward a more interdisciplinary research path and toward building tools that make the analytical work more efficient.”
