Ticking Clock, Battleground State Push Political Science Prof Into Spotlight

Susan Roberts, Political Science Professor

Davidson College Political Science Professor Susan Roberts was already in for a busy fall. Her phone has long been one of the first to ring when reporters are looking to understand North Carolina politics.

But with six weeks to go until the general election, in one of the most hotly contested states and with a Supreme Court seat on the line, Roberts can expect to be in the news now through November.

Here’s a rundown of her most recent Monday:

Roberts was quoted in a USA Today piece that looked at the effect of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s passing on the 2020 election.

Then, she and Political Science Chair Andrew O’Geen were guests on the hour-long local NPR talk show, “Charlotte Talks.”

She ended the day being quoted by Spectrum News and Fox 46.

Roberts teaches courses on congress, the presidency, political parties and interest groups, campaign strategy and public policy.
