Three Members of Class of 2026 Recognized as Distinguished Military Graduates

Davidson College ROTC is pleased to announce Cadets Koch, Casey, and Greenwood have been selected as Distinguished Military Graduates for the Class of 2026.
A Distinguished Military Graduate (DMG) is a Cadet who has maintained high scholastic standards, successfully completed ROTC Advanced Camp at Fort Knox, Kentucky, graduated with a baccalaureate degree (or the degree will be conferred at the next regular commencement), is designated as a DMG by the Professor of Military Science, and is ranked in the top 20% of Army ROTC Cadets nationwide.

CDT Marc Koch was born and raised in Stillwater, New Jersey. He is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and plans to branch active duty upon commissioning in May 2026. CDT Koch is a member of the Davidson wrestling team and has been a three-year starter. He earned a spot on the Academic Honor Roll during the 2024-2025 season. He has also co-authored a publication in the British Medical Journal on regional anesthesia and pain medicine. Academically, CDT Koch has participated in two research labs, including Prof. Hauser’s analytical chemistry lab researching the physical and chemical properties of hookah smoke, as well as Prof. El-Zaatari’s polymer chemistry lab, which focuses on a multitude of organic chemistry methods to bridge the gap between recyclable and non-recyclable plastics. CDT Koch is a recipient of the James Baker Wood III Award, as well as a graduate of the U.S. Army’s Air Assault course.
CDT Hannah Casey is from Naples, Florida, and is currently pursuing an English degree. After graduation, she plans to pursue a doctorate in physical therapy through the Army’s Educational Delay Program. CDT Casey will graduate in May 2026 and plans to serve as an Active-Duty Army Physical Therapist. CDT Casey is currently the Captain of the Women’s Track and Field team and competes in the heptathlon. CDT Casey is a two-time bronze medalist in the indoor pentathlon and holds several of the program’s top marks across both indoor and outdoor events. Additionally, she has earned a spot on the A-10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll for her academic and athletic achievements. Academically, CDT Casey completed a full length, 60-page novella through the Davidson College English Department, demonstrating her dedication and passion for creative writing and literature. CDT Casey is an active member of the community and has planned multiple blood drives, engages in alumni efforts, and is an active member of Connor Eating House, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and Strong Girls United.
CDT Phil Greenwood is from Northport, Long Island, New York, and is currently pursuing a degree in history and philosophy. Upon commissioning in May 2026, CDT Greenwood plans to branch detail into the Field Artillery and later Military Intelligence branch. As a member of Davidson’s Kenrick Kelley Honors Program, CDT Greenwood is currently completing a year-long honors thesis in history, based on archival research he conducted during the summer of 2025. Through his involvement in the ROTC Program, CDT Greenwood has served as the captain of the Color Guard team, designed unit morale shirts, and organized a range of special events. Outside of ROTC, he tutors local high school students in AP History and works as a campus tour guide for the Admission Office. Additionally, he is the Shabbat Chair of the Jewish Student Union and a “cowboy” for Rusk Eating House. CDT Greenwood is an avid outdoorsman and has completed a student-led backpack trip in Joshua Tree National Park and numerous other backpacking and camping trips nationwide.
