Leslie Nuñez Steffenson

Counseling Intern

Background

I am a graduate student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at UNC Charlotte. I am also an ordained priest in The Episcopal Church. I have a background in pastoral care and existential/theological exploration. I am interested in taking that experience forward into working with college students as they learn to navigate life on campus and make the transition to adulthood. I will use evidence-based interventions to help students manage anxiety, stress, personal relationships, and trauma. I have experience in cross-cultural dynamics and working with international students. I completed my undergraduate education at The Johns Hopkins University in International Studies and chased Soviet submarines as an officer in the US Navy. I was awarded a Master of Divinity by Virginia Theological Seminary and ordained to the priesthood in 2012.
