Background

I’ve been at Davidson College since September 2018 and working in IT since I graduated college (with a history degree). I provide direction and supervision to the Technology & Innovation Campus Services teams. These teams support users of software and platforms that are used campus-wide, such as Google Workspace, Zoom, Banner, DegreeWorks, Etrieve, and Moodle. Our goal is to ensure students, faculty and staff have good experiences with technology. Sometimes this means directly supporting users with problems or questions; sometimes it means managing projects that are implementing new technologies; sometimes it means working with vendors to ensure the software is working properly and continuously improving.

I have worked as a software developer, business analyst, project manager, Scrum Master and have been leading and managing teams for well over a decade. As a manager, I strive to empower my team members, facilitate collaboration and focus on progress over perfection. I believe that well-documented processes are critical to long-term success and that a project can not be considered complete until operational processes and responsibilities have been documented. And that the success of technology projects is ultimately dependent upon the people that use it—technology is a means to an end, not the end itself.
