Wildcat Weekend Picnics
Plan ahead for family meals with a relaxing picnic dinner and/or lunch! Enjoy these ’Cat Pack specials from Much Ado Catering.
- Option 1: Arriving on campus in time for dinner on Friday but don’t want to fight the crowds on Main Street? Order a delicious and stress-free picnic dinner from Much Ado Catering! Enjoy a hot pasta entrée, Caesar salad, ciabatta garlic bread, gourmet desserts and cold drinks. Pick up from 5-7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 10.
- Option 2: Choose a lovely spot on campus to enjoy a picnic lunch Saturday. Your meal will include two large baguette sandwiches, caprese pasta salad, fruits, cheeses, four gourmet cookies and refreshing drinks for 4 people. Pick up from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 11.
Your picnic will be packaged in a reusable rustic bag, ready for pickup at Vail Commons at the designated pick-up time.

Join us for engaging discussions on the historical, economic and political factors that shape our perception and consumption of sugar. Through a blend of light lectures and discussions, we'll explore the role of disinformation in sugar intake habits. Participants will be divided into two teams to conduct a "policy vs. disinformation" battle: one team will craft disinformation messages aiming to increase sugar consumption, while the other devises policy measures to curb it. |

Baker-Watt Science Complex, Watson Life Science Building, 147 | Chemistry focuses on some of the smallest objects in the universe: molecules. Dr. Mitch Anstey will introduce the concept of Symmetry as a classification for three-dimensional objects, including molecules. This course will also introduce the teaching method of Process-Oriented Guided-Inquiry Learning (POGIL). |

Cunningham Theater Center 130 | Welcome to an introduction to the role a scenic painter plays in creating the world of live entertainment. We will learn about the techniques used by artists to make flat surfaces come to life for plays, musicals, television and themed environments. Participants will also be guided through creating their own sample of painted marble. Aprons are available to cover clothing, and no painting experience is needed. |

In this hourlong session, Professor Alan Michael Parker will lead participants through various foundational elements of film study: shots, lighting, mise-en-scène, sound, etc. With clips from A Complete Unknown (dir. James Mangold, 2024), the session will consider the kinds of visual and auditory grammars that make films nuanced and complex. Among other subjects at Davidson, Professor Parker teaches Contemporary American Cinema. |

Semans Lecture Hall, Belk Visual Arts Center | In this session, Dr. Chris Marsicano ‘10 will introduce Davidson’s new Institute for Public Good (IPG), a hub for research, teaching, and community engagement that prepares students for lives of leadership, service, and integrity. He will outline the IPG’s five program areas—Civic Engagement, Deliberation and Free Expression, Public Policy and Research, Arts in Public Life, and Ethics, Honor, and Leadership—and share how the Institute supports Davidson students in addressing societal challenges while advancing the public good. |
