Background

I am a Geography and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) educator with a history at several schools (CPCC, ICC, and NC A&T). I am currently teaching BIO 209: GIS for Biologists.

At various times I also served as the Program Chair for Geospatial Technology, Geomatics Technology, and Civil Engineering. My passion for STEM education in a lab environment transcends many demographics.

Prior to becoming an educator my workplace experience includes local government and economic development. The powerful analysis capabilities of GIS were particularly interesting in the latter, helping to bring healthy investment to North Carolina, utilizing tools to put those companies in the right place at the right time.

Other relevant interests include UAV technology, the reintroduction of American Chestnut trees to Appalachia, and invasive pests in NC such as Hemlock Wooly Adelgid.
