Chat with a ’Cat is Davidson College’s newest alumni professional development series, designed to strengthen career connections and create meaningful conversations within the Wildcat network. Hosted by the Office of Alumni and Family Engagement, each session features industry insights, and actionable strategies to help Davidson alumni grow, pivot, and thrive in their careers. Recapture the heart of the Davidson College experience—time spent learning in the classroom! All alums, families and students are invited to enjoy virtual Back-to-School Classes featuring alums in a reunion class.
This semester, we meet at 8 p.m. ET, Thursday, Dec. 3 for an engaging discussion of Bingo Bango Boingo by Professor Alan Michael Parker. Alan Michael will give a behind-the-scenes look at his creative process, the mechanics of short-form narrative and how structure can unlock new ways to tell stories.
As the Douglas C. Houchens Professor of English at Davidson, Alan Michael brings wit and imagination to both the classroom and the page. In this author talk, he will take us inside Bingo Bango Boingo—a vibrant collection that pairs micro-fiction with playable Bingo boards, from "Community Garden Bingo" to "Change Your Life Bingo." He will break down how blending game logic with storytelling turns life’s everyday absurdities, quiet ironies and unexpected moments into lively art.
