Affinity Programming
Affinity events are gatherings of alumni based on their involvement in, or allegiance to, a particular group, experience or common connection.
These events are often successful in bringing together alumni with unique bonds that often transcend class ties. The Office of Alumni and Family Engagement coordinates approximately three affinity group reunions per year.
Alumni gathered at Davidson to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Tau Omicron Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha, the first intercollegiate Greek-lettered fraternity established for African-American men worldwide.
The All-Alumni Theatre reunion brought alumni and their families to Davidson for a weekend filled with gatherings, workshops, a student performance of Cabaret and a dinner honoring Joe Gardner ’69.
Watson Fellows gather to celebrate 50 years of the Watson Fellowship, a program that enables college graduates of exceptional promise to engage in a year of independent study and travel abroad following graduation.
Interested in an Affinity Gathering?
Due to staffing and budget restraints, the Office of Alumni and Family Engagement is committed to assisting with coordinating approximately two to three affinity group reunions per fiscal year. Typically, those attending the affinity reunion will pay for the cost of food, IT, and other extraneous costs through registration fees.
If you are a member of an affinity group wishing to propose a reunion, please first review the Affinity Gathering Guidelines. Once reviewed, please submit your request via email to Sarah Taylor at sataylor@davidson.edu preferably 12-18 months prior to the potential reunion date.
