Due to high demand for Odyssey pre-orientation programs, spots are filled through a lottery system. Incoming students who are interested in participating in Outdoor Odyssey or Service Odyssey should complete the lottery registration form no later than Sunday, April 9th. We will run the lottery and notify students of their placement on Monday, April 10th by 5:00pm.

Before completing the lottery registration form, we recommend learning more about each program on our webpages to decide which is a better fit for you. You will be able to rank your preferences for Service Odyssey and Outdoor Odyssey sessions within the registration form, but you will only be placed into one program.

Service Odyssey

The Service Odyssey is an service-focused experience that reflects and enriches Davidson's commitment to develop the spirit of service within each student. The program is designed to build relationships among participants, increase social awareness and challenge individuals to work constructively within a group.

Outdoor Odyssey

Outdoor Odyssey is open to any first-year or transfer student and will use outdoor activities such as canoeing, camping, and backpacking to build community for new students. Upper-class trip leaders support your small group of up to 8 incoming students, teaching you basic skills, creating space for you to work together to build relationships, and sharing significant experiences. Participation is open to any skill level.
