Family Orientation Schedule

Family Orientation will take place August 19-20, 2026.

This is a sample schedule pulled from 2025. Please check back in the coming months for the final summer 2026 schedule.

Wednesday, August 20

Time	Event
10 a.m. – 6 p.m.	Davidson College Store Open 137 N Main Street
4 – 6 p.m.	Family Orientation Check In Stadium Entrance, Alvarez College Union One of three options to check in for Orientation. You will receive important information regarding Orientation, including information for meeting with your student's holistic adviser.
7 – 8 p.m.	Opening Session Baker Sports Complex New students and their families will kick-off Orientation with a special welcome from President Doug Hicks and other campus leaders.
8 – 9:30 p.m.	New Families Social Brown Atrium, Alvarez College Union Join the Office of Alumni and Family Engagement for a welcome reception for parents and other family members.
8 – 9:30 p.m.	Family Orientation Check In Stadium Entrance, Alvarez College Union One of three options to check in for Orientation. You will receive important information regarding Orientation, including information for meeting with your student's holistic adviser.

8:30 – 10 a.m.	Family Orientation Check In Baker Sports Complex One of three options to check in for Orientation. You will receive important information regarding Orientation, including information for meeting with your student's holistic adviser.
8:30 – 10 a.m.	Orientation Fair Baker Sports Complex Visit with representatives of different college departments and programs who will be available to answer questions and describe their services.
9 – 10:30 a.m.	Campus Tours Baker Sports Complex Optional Campus Tours will be leaving from the entrance of Baker at 9, 9:30 and 10 a.m. Signup not required.
10 a.m. – 6 p.m.	Davidson College Store Open 137 N Main Street
10:45 – 11:45 a.m.	Life at Davidson Duke Family Performance Hall, Alvarez College Union The vice president of academic affairs and dean of the faculty, the associate dean of students, and other campus administrators will address families and answer questions.
Noon – 1:30 p.m.	Orientation Picnic Chambers Lawn Rain Location: Baker Sports Complex Be our guest for lunch under the trees with your student and fellow Wildcat families.
1:30 – 2:30 p.m.	Group meeting with your student’s holistic adviser Holistic advisers' names and locations for these meetings will be distributed during Family Orientation Check In
2:45 – 3:45 p.m.	Campus Partner Resource Sessions Families are invited to attend panel discussions hosted by various offices designed to answer common questions regarding college programs and resources. Scholar-Athlete Panel Tyler-Tallman Auditorium, Sloan Music Center The assistant director of athletics and two scholar-athletes will talk and answer questions about what to expect for your student-athlete. Beyond Davidson Hance Auditorium, Chambers (4th Floor) It's never too early to start thinking about life after Davidson. Join Betty and B. Frank Matthews II ’49 Center for Career Development (Matthews Center) staff to learn about the four-year process for success after Davidson and how the Matthews Center can help. Q&A will follow a brief presentation. Mechanics of Money C. Shaw Smith 900 Room, Alvarez College Union (3rd floor) Still confused about things like Dining Dollars, CatCards, Student Employment, and Financial Aid? You are not alone! Come get some questions answered by members of the Controller's Office, Office of Financial Aid, Human Resources, and Auxiliary Services. Student Life Support Resources Sprinkle Room, Alvarez College Union (4th floor) Professionals from the Residence Life Office, Center for Student Health and Well-Being, Academic Access and Disability Resources, and the Dean of Students Office will address some of the resources available to your student at Davidson. Davidson In The World Hamilton W. McKay Atrium, E. Craig Wall Jr Academic Center The directors of the Dean Rusk International Studies Program and The Office of Education Abroad will discuss ways students encounter the world beyond Davidson. Meet the Hurt Hub for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Room 210, E. Craig Wall Jr. Academic Center Learn about how the Hurt Hub@Davidson facilitates access to innovation and entrepreneurship for all Davidson students, faculty, alumni, and the broader Charlotte community. 4 – 5:30 p.m.	A Sweet Sendoff The President’s House, Backyard Rain Location: Alvarez College Union Enjoy a sweet treat in the President's House backyard before heading home.
