General Election Key Dates
- September 4, 2026 - Ballots will be mailed out in Mecklenburg County
- October 15, 2026 - First Day of Early Voting In Mecklenburg County
- October 20, 2026 by 5 p.m. - Last day to request a ballot in Mecklenburg County
- October 31, 2026 - Last Day of Early Voting in Mecklenburg County
- November 3, 2026 in the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections office by 7:30 p.m. - Absentee Ballot Return Deadline in Mecklenburg County

Take special note about photo identification requirements:
“Those who vote in North Carolina are asked to show photo ID when they check in to vote. Voters who vote by mail will be asked to include a photocopy of an acceptable ID when returning their ballot by mail. Many types of identification – including driver’s licenses, U.S. passports and State-approved student ID’s – will be accepted.”
Davidson College’s student ID, your CatCard, has been approved by the NCSBE as an acceptable form of photo identification in North Carolina. Review the full list of acceptable photo IDs. Students who do not have a physical CatCard should visit the CatCard Office to obtain one before Election Day. A physical ID is required to present at the polling place.
