Study in Freiburg

Davidson has partnered with IES Abroad to send students to Freiburg, Germany’s sunniest city in the heart of the Black Forest. Students at all proficiency levels may study there in the summer, fall, spring, or for the full academic year. Programs are being offered in the following areas.

  • Environmental Studies & Sustainability (semester or full academic year)
  • Language & Area Studies (semester or full academic year, with an optional part-time internship)
  • The European Union (semester with an optional part-time internship, or summer)

For additional information or questions please talk with a German Studies faculty member or visit the program website.

Stephen W. Keller Scholarship

The Stephen W. Keller Scholarship is available for students who wish to pursue independent experiential learning after their abroad program. The grant must be used to support a student’s in-depth engagement with German or Greek culture, language, and life. Visit the Keller Scholarship page to learn more.

Hermann F. Laimer International Exchange Program

Thanks to an anonymous donor, Davidson has established an exchange program in honor of Hermann Laimer, an exchange student from Salzburg, Austria, in the late 1950s.

Each year the Laimer program will bring to campus a student from the Paris-Lodron-Universität Salzburg (PLUS) who will study at Davidson and serve as an assistant teacher in the German Studies Department.

Davidson students interested in studying at the PLUS should contact the chair of the German Studies Department, Professor Burkhard Henke at buhenke@davidson.edu.
