Linguistics Minor
Linguistics offers another lens through which to examine and understand the world, one that bridges the sciences, humanities, and social sciences, in the true spirit of the liberal arts.
As both a systematic, evidence-based way of knowing and a culturally, historically, and socially grounded study of human communication, linguistics invites students to explore how language shapes thought, identity, and connection. The linguistics minor, therefore, encourages students to engage with language from multiple perspectives, from the structure of sound, syntax, and meaning to questions of power, culture, and technology, providing a foundation for understanding one of the most defining features of being human.
