Chorale
Davidson College Chorale is the premier choral ensemble at Davidson.
A highly select, auditioned choir comprised of students from various academic disciplines, they perform the standard choral repertoire as well as newly composed and commissioned choral literature. The Chorale tours annually and represents Davidson College on the campus, regionally, and nationally.
Rehearsals
Chorale members take great pride in rehearsal discipline and work ethic that results in exquisite artistry. To that end, every member of Chorale commits to 4 hours of rehearsal weekly, aside from finals:
- Mondays from 4:30-6 p.m.
- Tuesdays from 4:30-5:30 p.m.
- Thursdays from 4:30-6 p.m.
Tour
Chorale tours every other year, prior to the start of classes in January. Tours alternate between domestic tours and international tours.
Chorale tour is subsidized in large part, but students are usually asked to provide for some meals and extra activities. Learn more about our tours and their vital purpose.
Auditions
Please plan for a 10-minute audition in the first week of the semester at the Sloan Music Center. You’ll find the process to be welcoming and friendly as we get to know you and determine which ensemble is the right fit for you.
Remember that most of our members are talented non-music majors, and there is a place in the Davidson College Choirs for every singer—beginning, intermediate, and advanced. Learn more about audition sign up and the audition process.
