An interdisciplinary minor in genomics provides students with the resources, learning and research opportunities needed to be successful candidates for scholarships, internships, careers and graduate programs.

Scholarships

Genomics program alumni have received many scholarships including the Fulbright, Goldwater, Watson, Smith, USA-Australia, and National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowship.

Graduate Programs

Our alumni also have enrolled in outstanding graduate programs including those at Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University, University of Pennsylvania, University of California at Berkeley, University of California at San Francisco, National Institutes of Health at Cambridge, Northwestern University, Washington University, University of Washington, and University of California at San Diego.

Medical Schools and Allied Programs

Many alumni have gone on to medical schools at the University of Chicago, Harvard University, Duke University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of Virginia, Wake Forest University, Ohio State, and State University of New York.

Others have selected allied programs ranging from veterinary medicine, dentistry, public health, physician assistant, nursing, to perfusion technology.

Careers

Some genomics alumni have chosen to pursue careers directly, working in biotech institutions or as lab technicians in research labs around the country. Some notable labs that alum have worked at include GlaxoSmithKline, Genentech, the National Science Foundation, and the National Institutes of Health.

Others have pursued careers in technology and entrepreneurship, such as Founder and CEO of Twizoo.com.
