We believe in ensuring our students are proficient in the language and knowledgeable in the cultures of the Arab world. As most of our students have not been exposed to the language prior to college, our teaching requires a deep dive in the subject, one that transcends mere classroom training.

I am an assistant teacher and visiting lecturer. My background is in media studies and broadcasting journalism. I teach elementary, intermediate Arabic, as well as a wide range of courses related to Egyptian society, media and gender relations.

The courses I teach include: Gender and Sexuality in the Middle East, Contemporary Arabic Literature, Contemporary Syrian Television Drama, Postcolonial Syrian Cinema, Politics and Gender in Middle Eastern Melodrama, and Queer Middle East Culture Studies.
