Hispanic Studies at Davidson
The Hispanic Studies Department teaches the language, literature, and cultures of the Hispanic world. Intermediate and advanced level courses stress linguistic competencies, critical thinking, and cultural and textual analysis.
Our students develop a more nuanced understanding of the unique contexts in which Spanish, Latin American, and U.S. Latino literary and cultural expressions emerge and thrive.
Please contact Prof. Kyra Kietrys, department chair, with general questions or Prof. Brandon Cannon, language coordinator, with questions about the language placement exam.
Students pursuing Hispanic Studies majors and minors are strongly encouraged to study abroad with Davidson programs in Spain (Cádiz and Madrid) and in Peru.
