Heitz-Wagener Study Abroad Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Debbie Heitz and Shaw Wagener in honor of their son Harrison ’18. It is awarded to outstanding sophomores and juniors receiving need-based aid who choose to study abroad in the spring semester.

  • Provides a $1,500 travel allowance to be used after the end of the study abroad program
  • Stipends are intended to support additional travel that adds value to a student experience abroad:
    • Funds may be used only for travel at the conclusion of the program or during official breaks in the program (e.g., spring break)
    • Funds may not be used for travel that conflicts with activities or excursions organized by the program; and funds may not be used to pay study abroad program fees or to pay for travel between the U.S. and the study abroad destination.
    • Each spring semester, the committee will award 2-4 stipends of $1,500 each. Applicants can expect to hear if they are selected as a grant recipient by mid-November following the Off-Campus Study Notification deadline.

The Heitz-Wagener application questionnaire is included in all spring semester and academic year study abroad applications. Learn more about the application process
