Welcome! I am the assistant registrar for advising and curricular support, my day-to-day is centered on the academic needs of Davidson students. I have been at Davidson for almost ten years and have worked for a few of the academic departments before joining the Registrar’s Office. I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, and attended a small liberal arts college in the Midwest that is similar in size and values to Davidson. We chose the same type of education and I am excited to be a resource for you as you navigate college life.

I am a professor of physics, Chair of the Physics Department, Posse Mentor, and a Holistic Adviser. The picture is from Halloween 2018; I am on the left and on the right is a physics and economics major from Quito, Ecuador. As an undergraduate, I majored in economics and physics before pursuing physics for my Ph.D. I grew up in the Bay Area in California and spent time in Connecticut and Florida before moving to Davidson, where I live with my wife. I am also the proud parent of a recent college grad. I have been teaching at Davidson for about 25 years and teach both introductory and advanced physics classes. During my time at Davidson, I have served as a holistic advisor to students who have majored in almost every field we offer.

I am the registrar at Davidson College and also a member of the Class of 2000. As a holistic adviser, I enjoy working closely with students as they adjust to life at college. As a former Davidson athlete (soccer!), I can relate to the balancing act of being a student-athlete and I still enjoy attending athletic events today with my family. I grew up in California, but have now lived in the South longer than anywhere else. I am an avid reader, enjoy taking my dog on hikes, and look forward to the day that Carolina Cones opens for the ice cream season. Please do not be too shy to ask your questions. We are all here to help.

Welcome to Davidson! I am assistant dean of student engagement and director of the college union, so I work with new student and family orientation, student organizations, and Patterson Court Council. I have been at Davidson since 2015. I am originally from South Carolina and also went to a small, residential liberal arts college for my undergraduate degree. I’ve been serving as a holistic advisor since 2017 and truly enjoy helping students find their place at Davidson. Outside of work, I enjoy taking advantage of all the Charlotte area has to offer, especially the US National Whitewater Center.
Rosalba Esparragoza
Hello! I’m Rosalba Esparragoza, and I have been advising students at Davidson for many years. I always enjoy getting to know members of the incoming class and helping students navigate both the academic and personal sides of college life.
My graduate background is in Educational Leadership, and my work is shaped by interests in resilience, self-efficacy, and the idea that every new day offers a fresh start. I value honest conversations, connection, and helping students find their footing during times of transition.
Outside of work, I raised three children and now spend my time caring for my four pets: two golden retrievers, Oliver (4)and Max (18 months), and two cats. You may even meet the goldens when you arrive on campus.
I look forward to connecting with you this summer!
Cara Evanson
Hello! I’m the Research and First Year Experience Librarian at Davidson. I love the opportunity I get as a holistic adviser to meet new first-year students and to see them learn and grow over the next few years. In college I was a Spanish major with minors in Religion and Latin American Studies. I’m from Wisconsin but happily ditched my snow shovel when I moved to North Carolina. Outside of work, I’m learning to play guitar. I look forward to meeting you!

I am the associate registrar and have been at Davidson since 2014. I am originally from Long Island, but I have lived in Florida, South Carolina, and Virginia before moving to North Carolina. I’ve been serving as a holistic adviser since the program started, but I’ve been an academic adviser for over ten years. My work prior to Davidson centered around helping students make the transition from high school to college, and I am glad I am able to continue that work here. When the weather is warm you will find me with friends, a book or podcast on my boat on Lake Norman. I enjoy watching professional tennis and women’s collegiate volleyball (both Davidson and the Big 10).

In my role at the Hurt Hub, I serve as a connection point to the broader Davidson College campus as well as a program builder for student- and faculty-focused initiatives. The Hurt Hub is part of the Experiential Learning Team (ELAT), a collaborative committed to cultivating high-impact experiential learning opportunities for students.
At the Hurt Hub, we believe in empowering students to think creatively, take risks, and make a meaningful impact beyond the classroom through workshops, pitch competitions, and funding opportunities for new ideas. I also lead the NEXT Level program, which helps first-generation students strengthen their professional skills and build meaningful connections with client partners.
When I’m not working with students, you can often find me with a good book in hand—whether fiction or nonfiction—especially during the spring when the campus comes alive with blooming tulips. In the summer, I enjoy spending time at Lake Campus with my son.
Liz Wilson
Hi! I work in the Matthews Center for Career Development, mainly with students interested in pursuing careers in business/finance. In my day-to-day work, I help students figure out what they might want to do for a career and work with them on their resumes, cover letters, and interview skills to help them obtain internships and jobs. I’ve worked at Davidson for five years and have also served as a holistic adviser and the adviser for four student organizations on campus. I was an English major in college, so I truly appreciate the liberal arts and how well it prepares you for the future! I’m originally from northern Virginia, right outside DC, and have also lived in southwest Virginia and South Carolina. In my free time, I love watching college football, reading, and finding great places to eat in our area. Please reach out—I look forward to talking with you!
