- September 16 - National Voter Registration Day
- September 17 - Constitution Day
- October 6 - 10 - National Voter Education Week
- October 10 - Deadline to register to vote or update existing registration. After this date, you can vote with a provisional ballot and do same-day registration. Check deadlines in other states.
- October 16 - November 1 - General Early Voting Period (North Carolina)
- October 28 - Vote Early Day
- October 21 at 5 p.m. - Deadline to apply for a mail-in ballot in NC. Check deadlines in other states.
- November 4 - Election Day
Take special note about photo identification requirements:
“Those who vote in North Carolina are asked to show photo ID when they check in to vote. Voters who vote by mail will be asked to include a photocopy of an acceptable ID when returning their ballot by mail. Many types of identification – including driver’s licenses, U.S. passports and State-approved student ID’s – will be accepted.”
Davidson College’s student ID, your CatCard, has been approved by the NCSBE as an acceptable form of photo identification in North Carolina. Review the full list of acceptable photo IDs. Students who do not have a physical CatCard should visit the CatCard Office to obtain one before Election Day. A physical ID is required to present at the polling place.
