Staff Council represents all staff members at the college.
Staff Council advises the college president and other key administrators in matters of interest to the staff community, while fostering strong workplace relationships and furthering the strategic mission of the college.
The overarching strategic goal of Staff Council is to enhance staff engagement with all facets of the college, strengthen community, and celebrate staff contributions to Davidson College.
Primary Responsibilities
- Act in an advisory capacity to the President.
- Advocate for college staff to have a voice in campus issues.
- Support and enhance the exchange of information among staff, as well as between employees and the college.
- Promote recognition programs and engagement initiatives.
- Create opportunities for social networking and cross-campus community building.
Staff Council Subcommittees
Staff Council is organized around three operational subcommittees: Campus CONNECTions, Communications, and Events. This allows Staff Council to more easily execute its primary responsibilities, tap into the expertise and passion of elected representatives, and engage the wider campus community.
Staff Council subcommittees are open to anyone on campus, maximizing the council's reach and impact. If you are interested in joining, please email staffcouncil@davidson.edu.
Subcommittee Objectives
Campus CONNECTions: Focuses on improving the staff experience by providing clear avenues for input, advocates for staff interests in institutional initiatives, and celebrates staff contributions.
Communications: Ensures clear, transparent, and effective communication between the Staff Council, college staff, administration, and other stakeholders.
Events: Organizes inclusive events that highlight staff contributions, fosters recognition as integral members of the college community, and cultivates a strong sense of belonging and connection across campus.
Staff Council Meetings
All staff are welcome to open meetings throughout the year. These meetings offer opportunities to stay informed, share feedback, and collaborate on initiatives that benefit the university.

Staff Council Representatives
Representatives from each division are elected by their colleagues and serve two-year terms. Representatives serve as a liaison to their respective areas of the college, welcome and inform new staff in their division, attend all Staff Council meetings, and serve on a committee, as needed.
