Key Programming

One-on-one advising and professionalization workshops, focusing on technical and soft-skill development, are combined with opportunities for immersive, experiential learning to jump-start the student to career journey.

Resources and Areas of Expertise

Our staff is dedicated to helping students explore career paths that will leverage their academic knowledge and lead to fulfillment in their growth after Davidson. These keys programs, based on our areas of expertise, provide students with resources and experiential experiences to explore their intended career paths. Students, employers and alumni and families can find information on how to get involved with our programming.

We invite employers and graduate and professional schools from a variety of career fields and industries to provide informational presentations and interviews for both full-time career opportunities and summer experiences to Davidson students.

Career Advantage is a partnership between Davidson Athletics and the Betty and B. Frank Matthews II ’49 Center for Career Development (Matthews Center) to ensure that all scholar-athletes have a robust and engaging experience leading to high-impact career outcomes.

The career exploration process helps students identify career paths, job functions, organizations and employers that speak to who they are as people and the impact they want to have on the world.

The Matthews Center provides support of professional development opportunities for students that include, but are not limited to, certifications, testing prep, training and conferences through the Tony Snow ‘77 Professional Development Fund along with the support of the generosity of numerous alums, parents and friends.

Career Treks allow students to explore career paths in cities across the country. The program includes seminars and workshops that develop career competencies, technical acumen, and provides networking opportunities. Matthews Center hosts Davidson on Wall Street and two additional city visits annually.

Davidson Connect is a powerful tool that gives Davidson students expert advice from alumni and members of the Davidson network. Davidson Connect helps you obtain advice on career paths and industries, get résumé reviews and practice interviewing for jobs. You can also connect with shared interest groups, view job and internship postings, and more!

This post-graduate fellowship initiative enables recent Davidson graduates to work directly with high-level leaders at nonprofit organizations that address critical social issues such as health, education and the environment.

Experiential learning opportunities are critical experiences in a student’s career exploration journey. Davidson provides a multitude of ways for students to engage in these activities throughout their four years.

Each year, Davidson College hosts the Greater Charlotte Law School Fair and the NC Health Professions Fair, connecting students to some of the most elite law, medical and professional schools in the country.

Davidson College awards grants to select students participating in unpaid or low-paying summer internships (those with an income equivalent to less than $3,000).

Offered from late spring throughout the summer, our Job Shadowing Externship Program allows students to learn more about professions, receive career-related advice, and reflect on the ways in which a liberal arts education can prepare them for life after Davidson.
