Library Spaces and Services During Construction
(Fall 2025–Fall 2027)
Library and Center for Teaching & Learning staff will continue to provide resources and services to the Davidson College community while our library building is under construction.
Cat Cards may be required to access spaces outside of business hours.
Interim Spaces Open 24/7
Lilly Family Gallery will be the main collaborative study space during the interim period. In Lilly Gallery, you will find library staff, course reserves, computers, the laptop kiosk, scanners and printers, individual and collaborative study areas, the library information desk, and consultation space.
The Tomlinson Hall Basement Conference Room will be the main silent study space during the interim period. It will have individual study carrels, similar to the current basement of E.H. Little Library.
Chambers classrooms 2130, 2146, 2164, 3130 are available to reserve 24/7 for group study.
Other Interim Spaces & Offices
The Music Library (Sloan Music Center) will be the Archives & Special Collections teaching and research space during construction. Music Library resources will be available by request. The Music Library will be available for quiet evening study unless otherwise reserved for Archives & Special Collections.
Baxter Davidson Room (Chambers Second Floor) will be the Library teaching space during the interim period. When this room is not in use for library sessions or library-sponsored events, students are welcome to use the space for group study, much like the Fishbowl Classroom.
Center for Teaching and Learning Drop-in Tutoring
- The Speaking Center will be in Chambers 1015
- The Writing Center will be in Chambers 1046
- Research Consultants will be in Chambers 1027
Chambers South Basement will have spaces for students to get help with research and digital projects, including a computer lab, podcasting studio, and consultation space.
Watson 338 will house the Academic Access and Disability Resources Office.
All are welcome to work in the Hurt Hub's open spaces such as the Social Commons, Van Deman Innovation Lab, and Patio.
Students are welcome to use our student study rooms with other students, faculty, and staff on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Starting June 1, 2025, departments can book selected Hurt Hub spaces at no charge via EMS, providing ample room for meetings, study sessions, and events. These spaces include:
- Conference Room 302 (Capacity: 10, 7 days a week from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.)
- Event Space 303 (Capacity: 40; primarily available Mondays and Fridays 8 a.m.-5 p.m.)
