College Application Basics

In this session, we cover the fundamentals of applying to college. Discussion topics include: types of applications, application timelines, common application materials, additional resources, and other tips to put your best foot forward!

International Student Session: College Application & Financial Aid Basics
Thursday, July 10 | 9 - 9:45 a.m. EDT
While applying to college/university and understanding your financial aid options might not seem “basic” at this stage in the process, we want to help make it a little easier. This session will cover the fundamentals of applying to college/university in the United States. We'll discuss types of applications, timelines, common requirements, additional resources, and general financial aid eligibility.
This session is intended for rising juniors and seniors who identify as international students.
Finding Fit & Crafting a College List
Thursday, July 10 | 3 - 3:45 p.m. EDT
Join us for a discussion on how you can get to know colleges and begin the process of selecting which ones you'll apply to. We'll provide tangible tips on how to identify important factors and characteristics of your ideal college, so you can ultimately find the places that will best suit your college journey.

International Student Session: Demonstrating Interest & Making The Most of Virtual Visits

Join this session for a discussion on researching and learning about colleges/universities from afar. Learn what it means to “demonstrate interest” and how it is used in the admission process. We'll provide tangible tips on navigating virtual visits, the fine balance of demonstrated interest, and what it means to “sign up and show up.”

Essay Writing 101: Mythbusting

Learn the who, what, and why of college admission essays along with tips for putting your best foot forward in writing. This session is a prerequisite for the Essay Writing 201 session.

Essay Writing 201: Brainstorming
Thursday, July 17 | 3 - 3:45 p.m. EDT
This session continues the conversation from Essay Writing 101. Admission staff will guide you through brainstorming and writing exercises, giving you a chance to dig deeper into the writing process.

Leveraging Activities and Supplemental Materials
Tuesday, July 22 | 2 - 2:45 p.m. EDT
Colleges want to learn about the meaningful ways you spend time. This session will help you learn how to be your own best advocate, and share details about your extracurricular involvements and formative experiences. Conversation topics will include crafting an activities list, letters of recommendation, and other supplemental application materials.

Financial Aid Basics

This session will cover the process of how to apply for financial aid with topics including: eligibility, necessary documents, cost-determination, common terms, and more.

Pursuing Athletics in College
